Five bands. One direction.
Every score falls in a band. The band shows how your business would likely come across in a buyer review today, and how far away the next band is.
- Pre-Advisory300 to 499
Significant gaps to work on before a buyer review. The best time to start.
- Developing500 to 649
A solid base, with gaps a buyer would likely raise. A plan can close them.
- Pre-Qualified650 to 679
Close. A few documented items stand between you and the next band.
- Exit-Ready680 to 749
Well documented and prepared for a buyer review.
- Premium750 to 850
The strongest profiles: well documented, with few open issues.
How it works
The same fixed rules score every business. The method is not published, and AI never sets the number.
- Add what you know
Answer a short set of questions about your business and add documents when you have them. Your workspace is private to you and the people you invite.
- Get your score
See your score, your band and a confidence rating that rises as more of the picture is documented, so you know how much to rely on the number.
- Do the work. Watch it move.
A new document, an updated answer or a resolved issue updates your score. Earlier scores are kept as they were, so you can see the trend over time.
Directional, not a price tag.
The Exit Value Index does not say what your business is worth. It shows where you stand and what to work on, so you go into an appraisal, a quality of earnings review or a buyer conversation prepared.
Built for your whole team.
Invite your advisor, CPA and attorney to your workspace. They work alongside you and can help you decide what to work on first. Advisors and buyers cannot edit your score; only the information you add changes it.
Questions about the score
More about security, SOC 2 and how CapXchange compares is on the comparison page.
What is the Exit Value Index?
A score from 300 to 850 that shows where a business stands with buyers and whether it is moving in the right direction. Scores fall into five bands, from Pre-Advisory to Premium.
Is it an appraisal or a valuation?
No. It is a directional score, not an appraisal, a valuation or a fairness opinion, and it does not say what your business is worth. Your advisor and a qualified valuation professional do that.
How is it calculated?
From the information and documents you add to your workspace, scored with the same fixed rules for every business. The method is not published. Your confidence rating rises as more of the picture is documented.
What does deterministic mean?
The same inputs always produce the same score. CapXchange calculates the Exit Value Index with fixed rules in code. AI helps collect information and write plain-English summaries, but it never sets the number.
Why did my score change?
Because the information behind it changed: a new document, an updated answer or a resolved issue. Earlier scores are kept as they were, so you can see the trend over time.
Can I improve my score?
Yes. That is the point. The work you do in the years before a sale, documented in your workspace, is what moves it. Your advisor can help you decide what to work on first.
Who calculates it? Can anyone change my score?
CapXchange calculates every score on its own servers. Advisors and buyers cannot edit it; only the information you add changes it.
Can I use it to get a loan or set a price?
No. Lenders and buyers rely on appraisals, quality of earnings and their own diligence. The score helps you prepare for those, not replace them.
